About Dugout Vault

Sports Illustrated meets Fangraphs for card collectors.

Dugout Vault is where the sports card hobby meets informed collecting — a newsletter, a community, and grading resources built by a collector, for collectors.

What Dugout Vault Is

Dugout Vault exists at the intersection of sports culture, data-informed insights, and premium collecting. The brand combines a collector-focused newsletter, a thriving community for hobbyists, and grading guidance that helps collectors make smarter decisions.

We're not a price guide. We're not a marketplace. We're the resource you turn to when you want honest, thoughtful coverage of the hobby — the kind that respects your intelligence as a collector.

What We Offer

Inside the Vault Newsletter

A free weekly newsletter covering market movers, grading ROI, breaker spotlights, and honest takes on the hobby. No hype, no filler — just the hobby.

Grading Resources

Practical, data-backed guidance on when to grade, which cards are worth the fees, and how to think about grading as a financial decision — not just a hobby one.

Collector Community

A home for collectors who take the hobby seriously — where you can learn, share, and connect with other people who care about the same cards you do.

About Allen Hamric

Founder & Editor, Dugout Vault

I'm Allen Hamric, founder of Dugout Vault and editor of Inside the Vault — a weekly newsletter covering the baseball card hobby without the noise.

Like a lot of collectors, I grew up opening packs and chasing sets as a kid. Life eventually pulled me away, the cards went into boxes, and the hobby became a faint memory. Then I came back — and found a market I barely recognized. Prices that didn't add up, a grading industry with a two-year backlog, and no shortage of hot takes but very little honest, specific analysis. I built Dugout Vault because I wanted something I couldn't find: a trustworthy, no-hype resource for collectors who take the hobby seriously.

By day I work in analytics in financial services, based out of Hoover, Alabama. I'm used to making decisions with data and real stakes, and I try to bring that same mindset to the hobby — if you're going to put money into a card or send a box to PSA, you deserve to know what you're actually getting into.

When I'm not digging through pop reports and eBay comps, you'll find me rooting for the Atlanta Braves and college football. Go Braves.

Collector-first. Content-first. Built to last.

Brand Positioning

“Warm, authoritative, data-informed, and built by a collector for collectors.”

That's the standard we hold every piece of content to.
